Home EV charging for everyone

Welcome to Charge Gully, the company channelling good energy. As one of the leading cross pavement gully providers, our mission is to bring the convenience and affordability of home EV charging to the 40% of UK households without a driveway. We created the ideal cable gully which offers a trip-free permanent solution to running a cable across the pavement.

At Charge Gully, we believe that with the right technologies we can meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. The gully was designed as a marine grade aluminium extrusion from inception, avoiding the use of plastics, and making it durable and compatible with a circular economy.

Urbanisation has made it difficult for most people to have a driveway which risks reinforcing inequalities as public chargers are more expensive than charging from home. Charge Gully unlocks cheap EV charging for everyone.

Join us on this exciting journey and witness how we can shape a better world.

History

Charge Gully began in 2022 with the aim of unlocking home electric vehicle charging for people without a driveway.

This required the charging cable to cross the pavement safely.

We started the product development journey by exploring the feasibility of a portable device attached to an electric car which would carry the cable above the pavement, however the manufacturing costs and usability of the device were quickly found to be problematic.

After seeing experimental pavement channels that were either too bulky or left a gap in the pavement, we realised that there was a need for a well-designed covered channel that could be safely left unattended. The design objectives were to develop a channel that could be locked, easy to use, and compatible with the circular economy.

Following 6 months of R&D, Charge Gully was born as a shallow anodised aluminium extrusion channel fitted with a lockable hinged lid that could be installed easily and quickly within the surface of the pavement.
